Shoes, shoes, shoes!

I love shoes (and purses!) but I have to rein in my splurges to what can fit in my closet and what I will actually wear. When the children were younger, I couldn’t wear heels for a long time and, when that happens, you really lose the leg strength and flexibility you have when you’re younger. Age adds it’s own contributions to the issue.

So enter the not-quite-as-sophisticated wedge shoe or the comfortable flat. Wedges give you a better profile than a flat but both can add a polished look to an outfit– if the shoe is the right style.

Wedges: While a wedge isn’t quite as elegant as a true medium-heeled pump, it can be classic on it’s own. In more casual work situations, it works as a comfortable all-day shoe that lets you go from one event to another without slowing down.

Flats: Flats are a more cautious entry in the elegance list. That’s because a flat draws your heel down and gives the wearer a more flat-footed, less elegant walk if paired with a skirt or formal pants where a flat can look almost clunky if not an style-appropriate design. But with office appropriate dress pants or even casual attire where a healed shoe would be inappropriate or even dangerous (e.g. you do not want to wear heels–even wedges–walking down a cobblestone street), stylish flats do the job beautifully.

I purchased a couple of pairs of shoes to take with me for an upcoming work event. Some wedges and a few flats came in on trial and it looks like I may keep them all. (Insert an excited squeal here!) For the next few posts, I will be reviewing some of my shoe purchases.

Today’s review is the Clark Women’s Collection Mallory Luna Shoes. I purchased this pair through Macy’s while they were on sale.

I chose the natural color and the description says it has a metallic sheen but doesn’t appear to have any sheen in the photos online. Let me assure you that there is a metallic sheen to the shoe but, in the natural finish, it’s not an obnoxious shine.

This is a very comfortable shoe although in this week’s upcoming post on Thursday (about a pair of Giani Bernini flats), you will find me gushing about comfort! But for today’s shoe, this is a comfortable wedge that doesn’t pinch and is easy to walk in. I have not put the shoes to a long-walk test yet and I’ll report on that when I do. The shoe has a material/canvas upper not a leather upper and a manmade outsole. All around, it’s a great addition to my shoe wardrobe. And the color helps elongate the leg. It works as a neutral shoe much like a black or brown shoe.
